“Come after me and I will make you fishers of men.” ^{(Mk 1:17)} These are the words of Jesus to Simon and Andrew by the Sea of Galilee. Then the first disciples left their nets and followed him. No questions asked and no assurance of security heard. This they did in faith.

We have followed suit in this act of faith and courage as we set sail to Tamontaca in 1875, opened the first overseas mission in Sacramento, California, USA ventured into other mission places all over the globe up to the latest in Victoria, Canada. The missionary spirit of our Mother Foundress unfailingly inspires us to go out to all nations in the name of love and service. Truly, God blesses the Church and the Congregation with religious who continue to generously respond to the call of evangelization.

The Church and the Congregation are equally blessed to have a Sister who finds joy and meaning in capturing both the inspiring and growth-promoting stories of our Sisters in the overseas mission that these stories may leave prints in the heart of the many. An overseas missionary herself, a historian and an author of ten (10) books, she had compiled and edited our Sisters’ mission stories into a new book entitled, IN THE SERVICE OF HIS MAJESTY. In the words of Rev. M. Ma. Evelyn C. Aguilar, RVM in her postscript in this book, these stories “will draw our attention, provoke our interior feelings, inspire our minds and challenge us to a new vision of life.”

The compiler and editor of this book, “In the Service of His Majesty” is no other than S. Maria Rita C. Ferraris, our very own Sister, whose commitment and love for the Mother Church, the Congregation and the mission constantly inspire us all.
