With Sr. Ma. Lourdes Veloso, RVM heading the group consisting
of Sr. Ma. Anecita Navaja, RVM, Sr. Ma. Rosabella Gallo,
RVM and Sr. Ma. Helen, Soliven, RVM, the committee on Formation
for Mission came forward to be recognized. Introducing them
was the moderator for the day, Sr. Ma. Corazon Agoncillo.

Right
from the start of the committee reporting, the first presentor,
Sr. Ma. Helen ushered in her presentation with the profiles
of the applicants for admission. A number of plates were
shown to document what she wanted the assembly to be informed
with. Following her was Sr. Ma. Anecita with her sets of
profiles of the Professed Sisters, Juniors and Newly Professed
Perpetual Vows. Then Sr. Ma. Lourdes entered with the presentation
of the ongoing formation. When Sr. Ma. Rosabella had her
turn she did it almost in the narrative descriptive style
Sr. Ma. Lourdes stepped in with profiles and symbols drawing
the attention of her audience. As the last presentor of the
Formation Area, she sealed the reporting with the showing
of three sets of Possibility Statements which were later
on reduced to one set that included what the assembly participants
wanted to come out for the area.
Retreat Ministry Comes up
With Simplified Reports
The
committee on Retreat Ministry came up with reports that were
systematically arranged for the assembly to follow easily
while presentation was going on. The whole report was therefore
divided into three: Appreciative Inquiry Reports l – V,
Update on Chapter Mandates and Plan of Action.
Sr. Ma. Corazon Agoncillo, RVM had the task of moderating
the activity. The committee was chaired by Sr. Ma. Corazon
Ricafrente, RVM with Sr. Ma. Loreto Abregana, RVM and Sr.
Ma. Erlinda Flores, RVM as the members.
The committee gave the assembly members time for individual
reading of the report and guide questions for their small
group sharing. At the plenary session the small group secretaries
reported on the results of sharing from each group.
When the reports were read, the committee brought the assembly
to the IQ, PQ, MQ Data. Then five possibility statements
were presented. A proposal, however, came from the assembly
to let the committee have one possibility statement that
will encompass the substance found in the possibility statements
that were presented.
Assembly Ushers in the Day
with Education and Dormitory
Ministries
On this fourth day of the Pre-Chapter Assembly, two committees
were presented by the Moderator of the Day, Sr. Ma. Delia
Serviño, RVM. One was in the morning and the other
in the afternoon.
EDUCATION MINISTRY
Heralding
the day on its first session was the Education Ministry chaired
by Sr. Ma. Anicia Co with the committee members: Sr. Ma.
Lourdes Palacio, RVM and Sr. Ma. Corazon Agoncillo, RVM.
After the introduction given by Sr. Ma. Anicia, the reporter
on the education ministry proper was delivered first by Sr.
Ma. Lourdes . She tackled the portion of the report on the
template to organize the IQ data. Then Sr. Anicia came up
to present the PQ data with explanation that enhanced the
understanding of the template she was dishing out to the
assembly. Sr. Ma. Lourdes came up again to present the template
to organize MQ data.

does not end in the grave---- educational legacy
goes on.

Some profiles on chart were shown with their con-comitant
description to deepen the understanding of the different
parts involved in the Education Ministry. So far only one
RVM-owned school exists in the Generalate Area which is
that of St. Mary’s College of Quezon City . The others
are MAPSA schools belonging to the Archdiocese of Manila
and are being managed by the RVM Sisters. There are four
of them but data on those schools are incomplete.
The assembly was asked to give distinctive words that would
be included in the possibility statement in addition to what
the Education Ministry has come up with.
DORMITORY MINISTRY
The
afternoon session of this fourth day of the assembly was
devoted to the Dormitory Ministry. With Sr. Ma. Delia Serviño
still as the moderator, the committee had Sr. Ma. Marilyn
Ubaldo for its chairperson with Sr. Ma. Mercedes Yañez
and Sr. Ma. Gretchen Besonia as members. For a start Sr.
Ma. Mercedes Yañez read the template to organize IQ – 1
data, IQ-2 data, PQ-1,2 & 3 data. Then Sr. Gretchen stepped
up for MQ – 1, 2 & 3 data which she did with an
improvised power point approach to the delight of the assembly
members.
The report on the Mother Ignacia Home for the Elderly evoked
the feelings of joy from the Sisters upon hearing that with
limited materials and human resources, much have been accomplished
in terms of services given to the clients.
Based on the life forces from the data gathered, the committee
through its chairperson invited the assembly to contribute
some ideas which would strengthen the impact of the Possibility
Statement to those who will read it.
SOCIAL/SPECIAL MINISTRIES
On the day of the Assembly two communities
which came to the floor were the twins: special ministry
and social ministry. As ministries they might not be twins
but the mood they evoked was one that was tension relieving.
This was achieved through the manner that the reports were
delivered.
In
the special ministry Sr. Ma. Raquel Reodica, reported on
the healing ministry. The prevailing mood in the course of
her reporting was one that somehow eased the tension of an
otherwise heavy day. This has its repercussion in the social
ministry when Sr. Ma. Elizabeth Dejan delivered her report.
Sr. Ma. Felisa Declaro who chaired the special ministry
committee started with the presentation of the implementation
of the proposals from the 2001 General Chapter with special
references on the Landas and Chapter Documents. Then Sr.
Ma. Delia Rubio read the template on IQ-1 data, followed
by Sr. Ma. Raquel for the templates on PQ-1 and PQ-2 data.
Earlier Sr. Ma. Delia reported on the Campus Ministry in
the Archdiocese of Manila. Sr. Ma. Felisa explained the MQ
symbol that the committee has come up with.
When they were done with the reporting, the assembly went
into small groups to discuss on what criteria to be used
before responding favorably to request for Sisters f r om
an Archdiocese and Diocese. Results of these small group
discussions were reported during the plenum.
I am really inspired by our Sisters
who, on their own way, respond to the needs of the
Church. I salute their generosity, creativity and courage.
Keep on ! -- Sr. Merma |
The
Social Ministry had its turn in the afternoon of the same
day. Sr. Ma. Remy Villaraiz was tasked with the introduction
of the area to be discussed. Sr. Ma. Elizabeth presented
profiles of MINSAC areas of operation highlighting the area,
center and services. Statistical charts illustrated the different
operations undertaken by the Social Ministry. In the presentation
of the Appreciative Inquiry results the template on the PQ-1
data was reported by Sr. Ma. Remy. Sr. Ma. Rosviminda Ochoa
took charge of the template on PQ and MQ and Sr. Ma. Elizabeth
tackled the possibility statement.
At
the open forum the assembly members shared their feelings
that were evoked by the presentation on different situations
particularly on the concerns of the special ministry for
the poor. Moderator of the day was Sr. Ma. Anecita Navaja.
Overseas Mission Committee
Marches On
Ushered in by the opening prayer led by Sr. Ma. Consuelo
Rosales the Overseas Mission committee had a solemn entrance
with a processional march with Sr. Ma. Matilde Omandac carrying
the Paschal candle while Sr. Ma. Editha Roa and Sr. Ma. Justine
Damashie furnished the music A la Africana Style. With Sr.
Ma. del Carmen Yap as the committee chairperson, the other
member was Sr. Ma. Gilda Peñafiel.
Sr.
del Carmen Yap was the first reporter. She demonstrated the
statistics pertinent to the overseas mission with Indonesia
as the highlight.. It is interesting to note that there are
seventeen Dioceses where our RVM Sisters—Filipinos
and Indonesians—are directly involved. Moreover Indonesian
Sisters have been missioned to Italy , Africa , Timor , Philippines
and Samoa totaling fourteen of them.
To follow as the second reporter was Sr. Ma. Consuelo Rosales
who read the results of the data on the IQ, PQ-1, 2, 3 & 4
and the MQ. The Assembly were invited to read the life forces
of each area as being presented.
Sr. Gilda Peñafiel tackled the report on Taiwan
, Pakistan and Papua New Guinea . Then Sr. del Carmen Yap
presented the possibility statement of the entire area. Opinions
of the Assembly participants were asked after which the moderator,
Sr. Ma. Erlinda Flores declared the reporting finished.
Highlight of the report was her own and Rev. Mother Clarita
Balleque’s observation of the remarkable growth in
the Sisters’ spiritual, communal, and apostolic life.
Sr. Luz thanked Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and Mother Ignacia
del Espiritu Santo for the light, guidance, strength, and
inspiration given her in the carrying out of her responsibility
as Generalate Area Coordinator. She also thanked all the
Sisters who have given her support and encouragement. She
thanked them even for the little acts of thoughtfulness which
she said she cannot take for granted for as shown to her
in Scripture (and quoting Ken Gire): “a little mustard
seed can grow into a huge tree; a mere cup of water has eternal
significance when given in the name of Jesus; a little request
by a crucified thief ended up changing his destiny for all
eternity.”
Governance Committee
Has its Turn of Reporting
No
less than our own Superior General, Rev. M. Ma. Clarita R.
Balleque, RVM headed the committee on Governance. For her
members she had Sr. Ma. Angelita Pascual, Sr. Ma. Fiorita
Duquillo, and Sr. Ma. Matilde Omandac.
A brief Para-liturgy ushered in the activity. Sr. Angelita
was the leader for the Opening Prayer assisted by Sr. Ma.
Luz Segundo, `Sr. Ma. Delia Serviño, Sr. Ma.Ledovina
Vergara, Sr. Ma. Loreto Abregana and Sr. Ma. Justine Damashie.
Response to the prayer was the alternate chanting and short
prayer by Sr. Ma. Adelaida Huiso and Sr. Ma. Rosviminda Ochoa.
The reporting proper started with the calling of the committee
members to come up front by the moderator of the day, Sr.
Ma. Erlinda Flores.
To begin with Rev. Mother Clarita reported on the implementation
of the proposals from the 2001 Chapter Documents. Before
she relinquished the floor to the next reporter, an open
forum ensued. After this Sr. Ma. Angelita Pascual read the
results of the organized IQ data 1,2,3; 3.1 and 3.2. Sr.
Matilde followed her with the PQ data 1 and 2. Sr. Nenette
presented the MQ consisting of the symbol which the committee
came up with.
It was a great delight to the assembly to realize that
the committee finished much earlier than the scheduled time.
Deserving a break some Sisters went out for a movie while
the others preferred to stay and rest or do the unfinished
portions of their committee work.
Official Stewards
Manifest Joyful Life
As
the Committee on Temporalities took to the floor, the audience
was treated to a sample of the members’ musicianship.
Sr. Ma. Diosdada Salvan and the Chairman of the committee
rendered a soulful duet on “Panumpa” that seemed
to strike the chords of the assembly members’ hearts.
While they listen in wrapt attention it was a surprise to
them when they duo singers invited them to join in the singing.
Having been energized the assembly members were prepared
to listen as Sr. Ma. Rosalia Nacionales delivered the discussion
of the proposals during the 2001 General Chapter. Point by
point she went over them with the use of charts showing the
statistics of what had been accomplished in terms of performance.
When she finished Sr. Ma. Gilda Peñafiel as the day’s
moderator, called on Sr. Diosdada to give the results on
the IQ data followed by Sr. Ma. Cristina Eguna for the PQ
data results.
To clinch the reading of the data of the IQ and PQs , the
possibility statement was presented by Sr. Rosalia for the
assembly to look into. This evoked comments from the assembly
for inclusion in the possibility statement.
