POSTULATOR VISITS RVM CONGREGATION

The RVM Sisters welcomed Rev. Fr. Francesco Ricci, OP on his visit at the RVM Motherhouse complex on 18 June 2007. Much rejoicing greeted him on his arrival as the Sisters sang welcome songs on their way to the Jubilee Hall in St. Joseph’s Home. A brief program of equally brief talks and dances were presented. Rev. Fr. Enrico Emmanuel A. Ayo arrived just on time for the presentation.

Father Ricci is the RVM Postulator for the cause of the beatification of Mother Ignacia del Espiritu Santo. Father Ayo has been involved in the beatification work as a Theological Assistant to the former postulator Fr. Innocenzo Venchi, OP.

As a harbinger of good news, Fr. Ricci spoke about the procedure of the meeting by the Council of Cardinals designated to review or investigate the Positio submitted to them. The significant event for this was 19 June 2007. In a spirit of encouragement, he believed that a favorable decision on Mother Ignacia’s cause will be rendered by the Cardinals in session. Father Ricci’s talk was met with enthusiastic cheers from the Sisters who were obviously excited upon hearing the good news.

With rapt attention the Sisters listened to Fr. Ricci’s talk in Italian which was aptly translated by Fr. Ayo into English. Reverend M. Ma. Evelyn Aguilar, RVM came up front and on behalf of all the RVM Sisters in the Congregation, expressed deep gratitude for the presence of Fr. Ricci with his talk. Likewise she thanked Fr. Ayo for the kind service of acting as interpreter. At this point Mother General mentioned the involvement of Fr. Ayo in the writing of the theological dimension of the Positio. She was sincerely profuse in thanking Fr. Ricci and Fr. Ayo which the Sisters actively affirmed with cheerful applause.

The guests stayed the whole day upon Mother General’s invitation to let them see the RVM Archives and the Mother Ignacia Memorial in Intramuros. A concelebrated Mass was held at 2:30 PM at Our Lady of the Assumption Chapel before the group proceeded to Intramuros.
