RATIONALE

There is today an increasing demand for retreats and recollections brought about by greater awareness of and thirst for deeper spirituality among our faithful. There is, however, a corresponding dearth in trained and committed facilitators who would be willing to accompany others in their inner journey. This has moved us in the Retreat Ministry of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) to embark on a program called the SEMINAR-WORKSHOP ON FACILITATING RETREATS AND RECOLLECTIONS.

We have been offering this seminar since 1994. The purpose of this program is to assist participants in acquiring the competence to facilitate retreats and recollections. It offers them the chance to gain confidence in their own skills and to grow in an appropriation of new ones.

OBJECTIVES

The seminar is intended to enable participants to:

• articulate and affirm their desire to facilitate retreats and recollections;
• identify and explore the major components of a retreat or recollection module;
• assess their giftedness and capacity for this ministry; and
• learn basic skills and methods for planning and/or facilitating retreats and recollections.

THE PROGRAM

This is a 7-day intensive training program that is conducted in an atmosphere of prayer and reflection. The daily activities include a celebration of the Eucharist, input and workshop, individual and group reflections, and a closing ritual. Each seminar-workshop is limited to twenty-four (24) participants.

• Christian Living and theology. teachers and coordinators
• parish coordinators and catechists
• formators and counselors
• leaders of prayer groups and renewal communities

The program is open to men and women, laity, religious and clergy.

We expect participants to have ---

• some degree of self-knowledge
• a basic relationship with God
• a capacity for reflection and listening
• an openness and willingness to learn
• the desire to facilitate retreats/recollections

SEMINAR FEE:

P6,800 to cover board and lodging, handouts, facilitators’ fees and other expenses. A non-refundable deposit of P3,500, deductible from the total fee, is required upon application.
