SCHOOL YEAR 1995 – 1996

In 1995 – 1996 – Continuing our Education Apostolate here at Our Lady of Fatima Academy, Gen. MacArthur, Eastern Samar, the three (3) RVM Sisters – S. Ma. Josephine Preza, S. Ma. Amparo Palce and S. Ma. Purificacion Lansang – commit themselves to serve GOD – in fidelity and trust in HIM. In the community, they thank the Lord for these blessings, the daily Eucharistic celebration, their ongoing holistic formation on these different areas: Spirituality and Discernment, Prayer Life, Animators’ Seminar, Pro-Life and other relevant issues of the present time – in today’s world.

To a certain extent the Sisters continued to enhance activities in the Mother Ignacia Movement, (MIM) the Mother Ignacia Club (MIC) and Social Ministry – focused in serving the poor and the underprivileged.  Pastoral involvement in extension services are:  Catechism in the PublicCentralSchool, Retreats, Recollections, Prayer Meetings and building up Basic Ecclesial Communities. Sometimes activities were done in and outside the school campus.  For their outside selected places they made such activities in nearby beach resorts and in other places where there is Silence and Solitude.

On urgent occasions – like calamities – they gave on-the-spot help like clothes, modest cash and school uniforms to fire victims: special mention is our school – HolyCrossAcademy in Oras, Eastern Samar.

School Year 1995 – 1996 – indeed was a year of great challenge, however, the 3 Sisters strive to evangelize our parents and students in spite of the difficulty in the dialect “waray” only one (!) Sister is a native of the place.

In the school, creative praying of the Rosary, especially in October was an important one.  Students, the teachers and the RVM Sisters got involved in Parish Based Activities.  Students assisted the First Communicants and the Sisters helped distribute communion to parishioner’s, students and pupils in the public schools.  Confessions and FIRST FRIDAY Mass are also a part of our spiritual nourishment.

Random Improvements – the installation of faucets as drinking fountain for students, CR’s were repainted; CAT Office was converted into small classroom for first year students due to the increase of enrolment.

Improved awareness of Environmental Care and Ecology through lectures, seminars and meetings.

In the Library – Purchased more books, periodicals and magazines and subscribed newspapers.

School Clinic – medicines for emergency use were brought.  Made a small cabinet for medicine; brought kidney basin and forceps and provided 2 stools, 1 mat, 2 bed sheets, 2 small towels and a towel rack.

Other school facilities were also to a certain degree improved.  We limited the school improvements according to top priority concern – due to financial constraints
