MIHC: A Haven for Healing

S. Ma. Consuelo R., RVM

The love and concern of Christ for the sick is very much alive in Mother Ignacia Healing Center (MIHC) in Bagumbong. The countless people from different walks of life with different illnesses visit the Center on healing days which are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The environment which is conducive to prayer and the day’s activities are invitation to everyone to become close to Jesus. When one enters the place, one notices the name of JESUS on the walls, trees and everywhere. There are also the different images of the Blessed Mother. Anyone can choose from the different images to whom she/he is devoted to pray to. The life-size statue of Mother Ignacia could be found along the way towards the healing fountain. At the end of the compound is the well where the miraculous water springs forth. This is where the patients are bathed. In front of the bathing place is a huge size of Healing Jesus. On top of an elevated place which looks like a hill, is a Cross with a very big host surrounded with thorns with the Holy Face of suffering Jesus at the center. The heart of the place is a beautiful chapel where Masses are celebrated and beside it is the adoration room where one could talk to Jesus intimately.

As they arrive, the patients, are encouraged to pray the Way of the Cross. Before the Eucharistic Celebration, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed and the holy Rosary is prayed for the intention of all the sick people. Patients are encouraged to confess. After the rosary, the Mass is offered for the sick, after which some sharings follow. In the series of holy activities, the patients are soaked in prayers wherein the healing starts. The first part of the day ends with lunch and short rest.

The second part is the healing with the process of bathing in the miraculous water on Tuesdays and Saturdays or the radiation process and one-on-one healing on Wednesdays and Fridays. To attend to a great number of sick people is too heavy for Sister Gloria Ross, hence, some Sisters of the Generalate and Mother House communities come to assist in giving communion, leading the rosary, guiding in the Way of the Cross, bathing and healing. Some patients who have been healed became volunteers and help a lot in healing the sick.

Many people have claimed to be physically cured in the Healing Center , but what is marvelous is the spiritual healing that transpired. People who have not believed in God or whose faith is minimal, have been transformed, and became instrument for his own family and friends to become believers. They found peace and joy with the presence of Jesus in their hearts.

Mother Ignacia’s Healing Center started from a lowly place of pig-pen and poultry, but with the Hand of God who sent generous benefactors, it is now a decent place where one could consider a “home” for those whose refuge is the LORD when bodily or spiritually afflicted. And if strongly founded in Christ, it will last forever.
