Dean of College
Praised be Jesus and Mary!
I am delighted to welcome you to St. Mary's College of Catbalogan, the school that had produced 41 CPAs since 1980 with Noel Moreno taking the 15th place in 2005 for CPA Board Exam and 10th Place for LET by Noel Arcallana. The quest for excellence and character formation place as the priority concern in the college department. This was intensified when Dean's Listers were recognized every term. The activity did not only inspire many students to excel academically but challenged them as well to participate and excel in other extra and co curricular activities. To reward their efforts and to reinforce the desire for excellence, several deserving students were given full tuition fee scholarship. All these aim at instilling the value of excellence.
Being one of the core values of the institution, service to the needy became the object of plans and projects by the different classes during Christmas time, towards the end of the semesters and even during the time when our help is needed most. The school exists because of its desire to be of service. This is very evident in the kind of activities that were accomplished during the whole school year of 2006 -2007 of which some were featured in the college newsletter.
The pursuit to provide better facilities to the students and faculty led the Board of Trustees to build a four storey building that will surely help us achieve our dream for excellence. The mini hotel is one of the main features of the new building which will cater to the complex needs of the BSHRM students. The place will not only be a source of income for the students but a real exposure for hotel and restaurant training. New classrooms equipped with state of the art facilities will serve the needs of the academe.
As the school moves towards its 80th year of service, the administration with the support and active cooperation of the faculty and staff is vent on improving the curriculum, strengthening the research capabilities of the students, developing programs for the development of its students, faculty members and staff and forming Marian Ignacian Leaders imbued with Christian character.
All efforts are exerted to help Marians acquire the core values which is excellence, faith and service and the good news is glaring and giving hope to each member, these values are being felt and experienced by the SMCC family.
